Toile de Jouy
Yo, there are maxis and then there are MAXIS. This one is obviously the latter.
First of all, apparently some folks have a real beef with maxi dresses. WHATEVER, MORE FOR US. Second, they really do run the gamut and I've owned a ton of varying quality and...longevity. Usually the vintage ones are the best, but when isn't that true?
One of my favorite maxis is really just a 1970s vintage dressing gown in the funkiest color palette, and I've worn it in public rather proudly, thank you kindly.
This one, though, has the best, most flowy ruffles in a toile pattern in blush and dark red and an actual cape layer that really emphasizes the off-shoulder vibes, which, just GIVE IT. It's from Asos! And it's on sale in case, like me, you fully intend to keep layering up your maxis through fall and perhaps even winter (god, it's glorious living in California again). You're welcome, angel babies!
These were taken outside of the very popular Cerruti Cellars, one of the many tasting rooms right in the heart of Jack London Square. We haven't been in yet, but we can't possibly leave any wine-stone unturned while we're living here. Just earlier tonight, I (of course) accidentally crashed an HRC fundraiser during a last-minute run to grab a case of wine at Oakland Crush. Related: Our temporary neighborhood is a lot of fun. Here's hoping our next is equally exciting!
This song is also a lot of fun and reminds me of maxis for obvious reasons even though I have no idea what's happening. Sure, Jacques, whatever you say!
Sure is catchy, though.
Related: Bardot a Go Go dreamboats, PLEASE have another party very soon! Thank you, I've been in exile awhile. Also related: Maybe I should throw an annual Bastille Day party, if only for the ye-ye dance vibes and French 75s.
There's not a whole lot else going on here: same Dune bag you've seen in the last few posts (it fits a book plus the usual, which was a must-have), pretty gold spiral earrings from the tomboy, a couple of bangles for wrist candy, and my trusty Cole Haan clubmasters.
Plus, a pile of glossy beachy waves. (Best accessory ever.)
The setting in the next few photos might look familiar, because the marina is cute and I'm drawn to it like a moth to the flame. I can't tell if I'm failing at being an Aries or just really love a challenge. (Both?)
There's some real exciting news coming tomorrow with a GIVEAWAY. Stay tuned, sweet peas, and sleep tight!
