Howdy from Monte Rio, Vacation Wonderland!
It was the best little getaway, but we're back at home with a happy dog, contented hearts, fond memories and, well, a surfboard. Tiny but awesome for river floats and she made quite the prop combined with the kind of magical setting only The Rio, a dreamy old riverside movie theater inside a repurposed Quonset hut from the Navy, could provide.
One of these days me might even go see an indie flick there instead of just eating ourselves silly at the delicious little cafe out back.
Hot tip: Their menu changes from summery things grilled to perfection (and Maui Waui rainbow sherbet) to homey comfort food in the off-season. That alone makes me want to book our next trip out when things are chilly and cozy and perfect for sweater-weather vibes! I may not be ready for summer to be over but I am ready for cider donuts and beef stew, please and thank you.
This incredible printed dress is from Pretty Penny in Oakland's Rockridge District. It's vintage (of course), Hawaiian, 100% cotton, super comfortable and has the nicest sheen to the material. The long gathered hem makes it kind of a dream to walk around in! I wore it to brunch and Nimble & Finn's affogatos in Guerneville with some funky grey fringe sandals and a wooden beaded necklace from Barrio Vintage in Honolulu. This is one of those special gems you know you'll get a ton of wear out of and it'll never get old.
Some friends came up with their puppy on Sunday for hangs and the day got away from me! As a result, I missed a day of September Dresses so I'll just have to give y'all a 2-for-1 sometime this week to catch up.
Hope everyone's weekend was safe and wonderful!
