Hardly did I hit publish on that last post talking about dropping off the face of the earth when life happened, and I disappeared for another five weeks. I won't even try and summarize October, but the most important thing to note is that we found ourselves a house, y'all. We're in escrow!
Everything about this one was so different! Unlike other homes we pursued, we didn't have a few weeks to mull things over or delve into heavy research, nor to dissect every square foot and monitor each shifting data point with the passing days. We had not 48 hours from the time we saw it to when offers were due — and they were due at the precise moment that we'd be 35,000 ft. in the sky, en route to Logan Int'l. Gulp.
There's no way we'd have been able to move that swiftly or with the same kind of certainty and resolve if it were six months ago, or even three months ago. I'd say "we" pulled it off, but it was really our killer real estate team that scored the touchdown, to be fair. They're a total dream team.
Pins & Needles
So we landed, settled in and were on pins and needles through every course of our maybe-consolation/maybe-celebratory dinner that night. We made our way back to the little South End apartment we were staying at and wondered if we'd go to bed wondering when we at last got the good news!
We were — are still, will probably be awhile — stunned. Stunned and giddy and very, very glad to be in the home stretch of such a long and arduous process, but we still have a week to go so I'm not going to say another word until the keys are in hand. Let's get through Halloween first, kittens!
This was a comfortable and festive pairing for a day full of walking around, but Boston definitely had on its best cool girl outfit for autumn while we were there. The weather was delicious, just a hint of crisp but mostly warm air with fall wafting around in the changing leaves and the clothes people wore and on the seasonal menus and in storefronts. We saw about 84,000 people getting married in a single day. We saw friends for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. I went to art museums and visited Bobby From Boston in between corralling and moving lots of paperwork, digital and otherwise. I collected leaves in brilliant fiery shades to send to the kiddo in Hawaii, where I knew she was missing the season!

Now, are you ready for some epic foliage? I HOPE YOU ARE!
There's a hint about a special treat you'll get in the next few posts, and it's one of my favorite places on earth.
We're dressing up for TWO Halloween parties this year, hopefully things aren't so hectic that we can't stop and take a few pics for FFAF! Are you the type who keeps your costumes mum until the day of, or do you think keeping them under wraps is overkill?
