Pansies & Pinafores
Day 4: Pinafores are hot this summer. Wear yours with a printed bustier.
Operative word: pinafore. Seeing as how my cute vintage pinafore (how I happened to luck out and have one in my closet is beyond me) already had a lot going on between the bold stripes and cotton candy colors, I skipped the bustier. Plus, we're on the fifth and "final" day of a heat wave the likes we haven't seen since 1990, according to the Boston Globe. (Dear 90s, I don't want to relive you. I really, really don't.) But it's a cute idea if you have one that's on the plain and loose side, as pictured on their slideshow.
I saw this random mural out and about a few weeks ago and made a mental note to come back and shoot a FFAF with it as the backdrop. It's near a street called Mackin, which cracked us up. (Mature, I know.) I paired the dress with a Kate Spade Irving Place Little Nadine Satchel and Nine West heels in patent white (similar here). And Ray-Ban Clubmasters.
I also wore my beloved grandmother's perforated gold jewelry set, with an Erin Wasson x Low Luv horse hoof bangle (get the ring in silver here). I am super duper in love with this eyeshadow from Geek Chic Cosmetics. It's called Little Albatross and it's just so stunning on. The brand is vegan and cruelty-free, and with consistently awesome pigments and so many shades to choose from, I highly recommend it. Excellent price point and staying power as well. Mine lasted through three hours of sweaty dancing to soul music at this awesome party in Cambridge last night, so the proof is in the pudding!
When we got home from the little trek out to the mural, our front garden was bathed in the sunset light and I decided to bring in some hydrangea blooms and wildflowers before it got dark. I'm so glad everything seems to be withstanding the temps lately - we were worried we'd lose some of the babies we just put in the ground, but things look good.
Did you notice the pocket on the pinafore?! So handy!
Off for a Sunday soak in the pool. I am three days behind on this R29 thing and need to catch up, but am giving myself a "get out of jail free" card once a week - now to decide whether to skip on the creepers (because I don't actually own a pair) or the color-blocked two-tone vest (because no...just no).
