No Time Like The Present
When my wife and I realized that we haven't really had a full weekend "off" since late February, it made us look forward to this long holiday weekend chockfull of glorious nothing all the more.
Yesterday we hosted a low-key BBQ with friends in the 100-degree heat and and kept cool with a totally improvised but nonetheless sensational new cocktail using Lancaster's Thistle Finch Market Alley gin. All I did was throw a big fistful of ice into these cute outdoor tumblers from Target, add a mess of fresh mint leaves and one lemon slice to each, and then splashed the gin, cold-pressed sour mix, and Pimm's Blackberry & Elderflower in equal-ish amounts over the ice.
The rest of the glass — about halfway or so — was filled with triple-fizzed soda water, given a lazy stir, and voila. All it was missing was fresh blackberries! While I tended bar and chased a baby around, M grilled some summer corn, like a dozen different veggies plus tortillas, shrimp and blackened chicken for fajitas, and for such a last minute soiree, it sure turned out beautifully. Today it's much cooler, and overcast, so we're digging into the new season of Bloodline and some leftovers. But never mind that, let's get back to this post!
Daisies for Days
Let's see more of this beautiful vintage dress from Austin in full color! It's the third black floral dress in a row at FFAF, so I'll definitely switch it up for next time, though all three are so different and special in their own ways — this one has pockets and the most marvelous print and fit. I paired it with a pair of vintage purple sueded and red leather Christian Lacroix pumps I found on eBay ages ago and felt like a million cheery bucks.
And now I'm going back to snuggling on the couch in my kimono because this time next week we'll have a full house for the petite's high school graduation, if you can believe it — I sure can't!
