Fit for a Fête
This is just a quick little midweek post and if the frock looks familiar, that's because of the Spring Wedding Style Guide over at Autostraddle! I thought I'd give the FFAF crowd a closer look at the dress(es), as well as details on the rest. I have to say, this is probably my favorite of the bunch. I'm no drama queen, but in a dress...well, that's a different story altogether.
The twisted-and-tied halter neckline, lots of fluttery chiffon, and the fact that the watercolor floral just kind of drips down from the bodice and pools at the hem are all little details I love. It's an easy thing to dress way up or down, by topping it with leather or denim and scaling back on hair and makeup. (When I do that, I'll be sure to post it so you'll believe me.)
This week is so fast and busy and I'm getting through it with a little help from Nashville (the TV show is my guilty pleasure - well, one of 'em and you know you have some, too, so don't dare judge). It's finally nice enough to cruise up to the horses with the windows down and the stereo high, singin'-sangin' with lungs full of fresh spring air and the sweet, sweet sun on my skin.
Speaking of music (and in an attempt to redeem my taste after that last confession), the next Boston Calling lineup for September is out and I'm excited! Not enough to spring for a 3-day presale ticket yet, but I'll definitely be waiting for the day-by-day breakdown.
Nas x The Roots, Neutral Milk Hotel, and smaller bands like San Fermin, S. Carey, and Volcano Choir all make it pretty enticing. I'd definitely check out Bleachers or Girl Talk out of curiosity. The National is playing again, but I'd rather hear them in a smaller, quieter setting than a Boston Calling or Treasure Island Music Festival. I can't stop listening to We Are One by Berklee-bred CliffLight, even though it's on the slower, dreamier side compared to other tracks on the EP. The last minute or so of instrumental is super pretty. (And this summery remix is fun, too).
Besides, the weather in September here is always delightful. What do you think of the lineup? What would it take to get you to come to Boston for a music festival?

That's it for now, kittens.
