This is one of the most tomboy femme outfits I think I've ever worn, even though a pair of skinny jeans topped with flat motorcycle boots would have made it even more so. Maybe next time, with a high bun. This was my idea of an appropriate outfit for a house party held outdoors in slightly damp weather in the mid-50s. It worked, though I wished for gloves once or twice. Like driving gloves. Fingerless driving gloves! Let's move on.

I'm not going to lie, my friends, I am totally and utterly exhausted on this clear and mild Friday night. I've been on my feet all day and last night we were up late after spending the evening at the petite's school for Back to School night. I've lost count of how many M & I have been to together now, and it's usually the same drill more or less, but this is HIGH SCHOOL, and the high school is mighty big. We had to trek up and down four floors to visit her various classes and teachers!

It was great, though, and I'm still dying over her awesome English teacher and his wonderfully appointed classroom. He's an older gent with a head of pure white hair, dressed to perfection. His class has proper bookshelves, stuffed to the gills, little twinkling lights hanging from some, and many old things on the tops of shelves, or scattered around the room. Comfy chairs for reading in, a big community table, decorative touches here and there. Lovely, like a great old bookshop or library. Something right out of a movie, what lucky children.

It seems like September was a kind of hateful month for a lot of folks, and already October is ushering in lots of good things and positive change! I'm glad. I'm also glad that while our September was just fine - aside from my getting sick with that cold and M having to spend a week back home for a work conference - October's off to a fantastic start. I'll have some really fun announcements very soon, I hope. I shall speak of it no more!

We've got a wide open weekend ahead of us, with nary a plan except perhaps a trip to the country fair and the Genius Bar. I'm hoping the rain means we get to spend a lazy afternoon indoors, with the weather just chilly enough to warrant a small fire in our new (to us), raised, marble-trimmed fireplace in the living room. We've got the tea and pumpkin bread muffins and reading materials all set, so BRING IT, MOTHER NATURE. And have a lovely weekend, everyone.
