Early violets always miss her.
Spring flies, and with it all the train it leads: And flowers, in fading, leave us but their seeds.
So, here we are, in a darling little park a stone's throw from our house, flush with fleeting blooms.
I found this dress at a trendy little chain of New England boutiques called 344. I'm not the hugest fan of the high-low hem fad, but I loved the cool panel in the back of the dress and its raspberry color. A lot of what they carry is fast-fashion stuff along the same lines as F21 and H&M, but you can also find a handful of nicer quality silk pieces, and brands like Gentle Fawn, BCBG, Free People and BB Dakota.
Recently I had the pleasure of attending a special brunch event for the grand opening of the Peruvian Connection's new store on Newbury Street. I wasn't too familiar with the line before, but after meeting the lovely founder and CEO I came away totally impressed with their luxe fabrics and how ethically they work with artisans in Peru to create handmade clothing. There's an evident respect and admiration for the knitters they've worked with for 30+ years, especially as artists in preserving (and celebrating!) the culture and tradition of Andean knitting.
Also impressive? Cambridge's West Bridge pulling out all the stops to host a meal they normally don't. It was jaw-droppingly good.
A lot of hair. A lot of flowers. A riot of color, hooray! I'm wearing the Kate Spade Saturday watch my mama got me for my birthday, carrying the Dooney & Bourke bag that M got me on Valentine's Day last year, and the vintage Levi's belt I found at Bobby from Boston. And a vintage ring.
Getting plucky with petals. Also we found a gazebo that's been here since 1868, it's older than our house by 14 years. A gazebo! We kicked out some awkward teenagers to get these photos, so I hope you appreciate it. Awkward style bloggers > awkward teens. Folks, the Rosedale Gazebo:
Hope you're all having a lovely Memorial Day weekend! Ours took a rather frightful and unexpected turn last night, but I'll save that story for later!
